Environment & Social Responsibility:
What we do

In close collaboration with the Kangamiut Group, we work actively to reduce our environmental and climate impact, and to improve working conditions everywhere we operate.

The 'G' in ESG:
Improving our governance

In Kangamiut Seafood and the Kangamiut Group, we are continuously working actively to improve our governance structures.

Over the last years we have, among others

  • simplified our organizational structure with the merger of Dansea Nordic and Northcoast Seafoods with Kangamiut Seafood to facilitate streamlining of our processes and procedures
  • elevated the Sustainability as well as Food Safety & Quality functions to be represented in the management team
  • professionalized and diversified our board of directors to profit from external expertise and equal representation of women and men in the board

In the end, a strong governance structure allows us the freedom to focus on what we are best at: Developing and nurturing strong partnerships within seafood.

We are certified traders, and we aim to deal with certified suppliers

The natural choice for us is MSC (wild caught) or ASC (farmed) certified seafood products. Natural, because not only are we responsible for supporting responsible fishing practices to secure resources for future generations – the future of our business itself depends on sustainable fishing practices!

Therefore, the vast majority of our products are MSC or ASC certified, and we work actively to promote sustainable fishing by continuously supporting our suppliers’ certification efforts.

Our MSC and ASC Chain of Custody certification is your third-party verified guarantee that products are traceable and separated from non-certified products.

ASC: Aquaculture Stewardship Council

Ambitious certification programme to transform the world's seafood markets and promote the best environmental and social aquaculture performance

MSC: Marine Stewardship Council

International non-profit organisation that recognises and rewards efforts to protect oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future

Anti-corruption and human rights

While respect for human rights and our anti-corruption policy is an inherent part of our responsible operating practices, we are currently in the process of revising our human rights and anti-corruption policies and practices to ensure their alignment with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and other internationally recognized standards.

Any violation of human rights or suspected incidences of corruption related to our operations should be reported via our Whistleblower system.

The Kangamiut Group whistleblower reporting system

As part of the Kangamiut Group, in Kangamiut Seafood we strive for an open corporate culture where everyone can come forward freely and report any suspected irregularities or illegalities.

As a supplement thereto, the Kangamiut Group has chosen to set up a whistleblower scheme where all employees anonymously can report violations or omissions in relation to legislation as well as other serious and sensitive matters.
